A senior executive with fifteen years of experience in design, execution, and management of complex programs in closed or closing societies, focusing on Internet Freedom and information access, local and international advocacy, NGO capacity building, independent media, D&G, rule of law, civic tech, and human rights. Hamed designs and employs innovative solutions to empower CSAs and CSOs push for tangible reforms and encourage their governments to become more inclusive, transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of their citizens. Hamed has overseen a diverse portfolio of innovative programs and managed a culturally diverse and geographically distributed staff. With a successful track record in grant writing, securing large scale public and private funding, and winning highly competitive grants, Hamed designs, executes, and manages sophisticated multiyear programs in environments that require significant risk assessment/mitigation and strict financial and regulatory compliance. The products, solutions, and trainings that are developed under Hamed's portfolio have benefitted hundreds of highly specialized users, such as human rights attorneys, to several hundred thousand monthly active users who want to openly access information. Prior to his work in the NGO sector, Hamed was an international broadcaster and video journalist at Voice of America, where he played a key role in the launch and expansion of multiple TV and Radio programs, including a popular technology show that he personally hosted. Hamed is intimately familiar with the full life cycle of media and news production and has shot, written, and edited stories and reports in more than 20 countries, and produced more than 300 original stories from international tech conferences to social and political conflicts. Hamed continues to leverage media in his work to empower CSA/CSOs achieve their goals.In his personal life, Hamed is a digital nomad who has travelled to more than 75 countries, where he often dives deep into the history, cultural norms, and sociopolitical trends, and learns about successful grassroots initiatives and social enterprises that have contributed to positive change.
