Charity Description: Engineers Without Borders UK is a UK-based registered charity and NGO that leads a movement to inspire, enable and influence global responsibility through engineering.Tasks undertaken during the challenge:• Produced a thorough design proposal for a new water treatment system for the town of Bambui in Cameroon• Undertook extensive research of current system, which was then analysed for weaknesses• An ultra fuel efficient distillation system was found to be the most appropriate solution, removing all contaminants and diseases which plagued the current system• Both renewable Eucalyptus oil and energy harnessed from the pressurised steam was used as fuel, making the system extremely cost-efficient to run and significantly decreasing the CO2 outputThis challenge was done as part of a group of 4 and the design was a runner up in the challenge.

Charity Description: A non-profit organisation aimed at helping young adults within the UK to maximise their future career and business opportunities through balanced guidance and support from mentors.Responsibilities:• Work with the management committee to help structure the voluntary organisation, create a risk management plan and IT policy – identify risks and how they will be mitigated and practical ways to execute lowering any risks.• Give guidance and support to team members from all departments, recent tasks have included setting up computers in the office and ensuring that they are functioning properly.• Regular maintenance and updating of the organisation’s website and computers.• Ensure mentee and mentor details are entered into the database, ensure mentee and mentor details are correct, contact mentee or mentor if further or correct details are required and help manage their relationship.• Assist with organising external events and help with delivering presentations.

Business Description: International engineering consultancy firm.Was part of a team working on the effluent upgrade of a synthetic elastomers and lattices production site owned by Versalis UK Ltd (owned entirely by ENI SpA). The total project was valued at £45 million.Responsibilities:• Create a MTO (Material Takeoff Order) spreadsheet template in order to provide accurate prices to clients. • Perform hand calculations for a structure for an ongoing project.• Investigate where and why various errors have occurred in an MTO which was used on a recent project.• Required to create a building metrics spreadsheet for specific structures on an ongoing project.• Required to create a spreadsheet which included volumetric information for all work packs for an ongoing project and report any errors in the previously created MTO.
