After spending the last 20 years leading the build-out (UCB Canada, InterMune) and recovery (Biogen Idec, Starkey Hearing Technologies) of four Canadian affiliates of multinational health companies, I am excited to launch my own clinic to help patients living with hearing loss. Hearing loss is the third most common chronic health condition (> 8 million Canadians), and untreated hearing loss is the leading modifiable risk factor for early cognitive decline and dementia. On a personal note, I found myself having communication challenges discriminating speech in background noise and asking others to repeat themselves. I was diagnosed with high frequency hearing loss and fit with digital hearing instruments in 2018.
