• Technical Superintendent. Glasgow Scotland. • Based at home working with a fleet of 10x 12000 DWT general cargo ships built 2009/2010 on worldwide trade. Superintendent role, within this company has a more hands on approach, with regular inspections onboard, attendance for overhauls, surveys and audits. Monitoring ships daily reports, providing advice on technical/class/flag issues and reporting directly back to Fleet Technical Manager.

• Joined the company to work within a small team with the initial responsibility for bringing their owned ships back into the newly created ship management department. The Company has a fleet of 15 handy size bulk carriers ranging from 1 year old to 10 years old. The company has a strong new build program which I have been heavily involved with, from initial spec to final delivery. As well as superintendent duties for the 4 ships in service and 3 new builds, I have been involved in creating the building blocks for the various departments required to operate a successful ship management company including, technical, operational, quality, safety and purchasing departments, as well as providing training/guidance to personnel within the company.

• Working as part of a team looking after Stena Bulk AB as client. Ship group consists of 2 Aframaxes, 6 Medium Range Crude/Product Tankers and 2 combined Gas and Oil Carriers. Direct responsibility for 4 ships, 2x 65,000 DWT double propulsion MR tankers which are part of Stena’s MAX Concept for shallow draft wide beam and 2 x 10, 000 DWT Combined Oil and Gas Carriers with diesel electric propulsion uniquely built to operate within the Caribbean island and river trades.• Direct responsibilities within ship group include: • Liaising with owner Stena Bulk AB and charterers Chevron and TOTAL on all operational and technical issues. • Preparing ships for vetting inspections and compiling any necessary responses via the SIRE system• Dealing with daily technical and operational matters• Appointment/interview of junior and senior sea going staff • Review and approval of Vessel Requisitions Ship inspections preparing technical reports• Onboard ISM and ISPS Audits• Ensuring ships run within budgetary, Class and Flag requirements.• Preparation of docking specifications• Attendance of dockings and repair periods• Management of guarantee claims for new buildings• Project Work• Out with normal superintendent duties I am involved in following projects:• Plan approval for VLCC and VLGC new builds• Member of committee which reviews Stena’s new build programme to assess where any improvements can be made• Member of the Energy Management Team assessing the company and fleets requirements to meet owners Energy Management Policy

• Ship Manager/ Technical Superintendent for 5x 30,000 GRT Bulk / General Cargo Vessels. Delivering unique "hands on" technical management to the vessels and the owners.• Company have recently introduced their new "Group" Safety Management System, I have been heavily involved in the implementation of the system both in the office and onboard, providing me with a great knowledge of Class and Flag SMS Audit Procedures.• Other roles I perform include:• Daily technical support to all vessels• Daily monitoring of vessel performance.• Monthly technical inspections. Including ISM and ISPS audits.• Vetting and approval of all vessel purchase orders, in relation to safety and budgetary requirements.• Liaise with Classification and Flag State Societies for surveys.• Monthly and quarterly operational / financial reports to owners.• Quarterly meetings with owners to discuss operational and financial issues and long-term strategies.• Implementation of Planned Maintenance Programs• Ensuring all vessels comply with latest Classification and Flag State regulations.• Preparation of dry-dock specs for tender.• Attendance of dockings/repairs either scheduled or unscheduled.

• Sailed as 1st Engineer on fast ferry Superstar Express from Larne to Troon and Cairnryan for season April until August 04. I was involved in bringing vessel back into service after docking with crew training and sea trials. During the season my main duties included monitoring and maintenance of all machinery and hotel services with assistance of the Chief Engineer and Motorman. Vessel was fitted with 4x KaMeWa Water Propulsion Jets and 4x MTU 20V 1163.

• Managing Director of company overseeing all aspects of the business including sales, staff/customer training and product development.• The company was expanded from a single van operation to UK recognised company offering specialized equipment, training and technical support to customers in the Automotive Air Conditioning Industry and innovative products and training on SMART Repair Systems, boasting a fully equipped training and demonstration centre, offering City & Guilds Approved Training Courses.

• Served upon FPSO Seillean during refit in Invergordon and dry dock in Rotterdam for new duties offshore in Brazil. Sailed with vessel to new well position and involved in the setting up of new systems.• Main duties on vessel included watch keeping, logbook keeping and maintenance to auxiliary systems as 4th Engineer.• As 3rd Engineer main duties included all maintenance/services to main diesels, gas turbines and thrusters systems, this ranged from standard maintenance to complete strip down and rebuild for ongoing survey work. • As 2nd engineer my duties included implementation of the planned maintenance system and senior control room operator overseeing all engine room staff.• Types of machinery I worked on included Ruston gas turbines, MAN diesels and LIPS thrusters.

• During my time with Maersk IOM I gained extensive experience with large slow speed engines and auxiliary equipment including MAN B & W and Sulzer. Main duties on vessels included watch keeping, maintaining machinery log books, planned maintenance programs and repair and maintenance to all main and auxiliary equipment including, power generation, pumps, compressors, purifiers, deck machinery, Leibherr deck crane, and refrigerated cargo.• I also experienced numerous dry-docks and assisted in the complete main engine removal and refit after a major failure.
