Hamish Mackay is Executive Director of Biodynamics2024 Pty Ltd. Hamish’s experiences fuel a passion for biodynamics as a foundation for progress in our cultural, social and economic life at a time when our environment is seriously challenged. In 1989 he was founding chairman of the Biodynamic Farming & Gardening Association Inc. (now Biodynamic Agriculture Australia Ltd). He has presented over 400 workshops on biodynamic agriculture and nutrition around Australia as well as UK, USA, South Africa, Namibia and Brazil. He has also visited biodynamic activities in NZ, Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland and India. Hamish presents biodynamics as an enjoyable and cost effective way to produce high quality food and fibre suitable for human health and well-being as well as a way to address our carbon and climate challenges and generate confidence in the future. We can be carbon neutral and productive and healthy and viable. He encourages gardeners and farmers alike to play an important role in improving our environment. In 2009 Hamish established Biodynamics2024 Pty Ltd with the objective that biodynamics/holistic AgriCulture be the farming method of choice in Australia by 2024. After 33 years in the not-for-profit sector, Hamish is now focussing on associative economics as a more dynamic and less bureaucratic community business model. In recognising that biodynamics is a practical farming method Hamish also has an interest to ensure that it continues to be developed in the context of Rudolf Steiner’s wider social, economic and cultural contributions to humanity. He travels the country presenting introductory and advanced biodynamic workshops, providing growers with clear and practical methods for adopting biodynamics. Hamish also offers workshops on the cosmic context of Biodynamics.
