Hamish is a senior Geotechnical Engineer with Tonkin & Taylor in Auckland. Hamish has over 19 years of experience within the geotechnical engineering, natural hazards and tunnelling fields. His experience has been gained across a range of projects including four years on the Waterview Connection project as part of the Geotechnical Design team and later as the Tunnel Construction Phase Support Manager. Hamish recently led the Geotechnical Design Team on the Puhoi to Warkworth motorway project. He has extensive experience in slope stability assessment and slope retention design with over fifteen years working for the Earthquake Commission in the area of landslide assessment and remediation.Hamish has worked on a number of varied geotechnical projects including; geotechnical investigations, reporting and construction supervision for a number of developments from residential to multi-storey buildings, design and construction supervision of landslide remediation, design of deep excavations and foundations for bridges and multi-story buildings, retaining wall design and construction monitoring, earthworks supervision and design of settlement mitigation measures for buildings on deep soft soil sites.Hamish has served as a national committee member for the New Zealand Geotechnical Society and was the lead editor of the Society’s Bulletin.
