I was sought out to add to their rapidly growing business that required trained portfolio managers who could provide more rigor, process and oversight specifically to risk within their investment division as the business had grown from A$100m to over A$1.5b during my tenure.While the role had many issues (including the very strenuous period of the GFC) the advice provided saved investors highly material amounts of money.__________________________________________________________________________________________________Roles & Achievements :• Implemented transparent, holistic portfolio risk reporting processes, including concepts such as “drift” (vs static) portfolios to align client portfolios.• Created and implemented portfolio and asset allocation tools so that the business was able to even determine how their clients’ money was allocated• Provided factual and empirically based evidence of the levels of risk being taken on within client portfolios including over gearing, asset allocation, industry and security concentration.• Worked directly with investment advisers and senior executives (who were not from investment backgrounds) to encourage aligning client risk with their needs and objectives.• Create a standardised set of aspirational characteristics for securities within certain portfolios and a template for debating these characteristics.
