I am a Member of the Order of Canada for my groundbreaking work in social justice, diversity, inclusion and equity. I'm an agent of change. I love the unusual. I'm inventive and a self-starter. Not only am I able to see the Big Picture - I also know how to engage people in the process of change. I apply all these attributes to my work as a Public Speaker and Diversity and Inclusion Strategist. For more than two decades I have worked with a wide range of clients in a number of sectors and fields. These include corporations, not-for-profits, healthcare, technology, social services, post secondary education, law enforcement and justice. Many of my clients consider me to be "a trusted advisor." I use many approaches and tools that have helped organizations to succeed in being reflective, responsive and relevant to the changing markets and communities they serve. For example, I am a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) that measures and develops the level of intercultural awareness and sensitivity among individuals and teams, and the Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory that identifies a person's unique style of resolving conflict. How people think and process information - cognitive diversity - is also an important aspect of diversity; that's why I am also a Certified Emergenetics Associate. Using a variety of tools and instruments, working with a wide range of organizations, along with my lived experience as a Black man and father of two young women have all helped me to make workplaces more inclusive, productive and interculturally competent. In addition to my diversity and inclusion work, I am grateful for the many awards and recognitions I have received for my work as a former journalist and as an active member of my community.Specialties: change management, intercultural competence assessment, diversity and inclusion assessment, diversity and inclusion consulting, customer relations, management, diversity and inclusion strategic planning, diversity workshops. I’m a sought-after public speaker, trainer, and intercultural competence coach, specializing in successfully coaching managers and executives.
