At Mayor Wilson, I owned a large project for a pharmaceutical client.• System consisted of health record system (designed to scale up to 10 million users), an iPhone app, an iPad app; hosted on a private cloud using OpenStack to keep sensitive health data in Canada• Hired and managed teams of full-stack engineers, devops engineers, QA engineers, and UX engineers • Used scrum/agile development processes to iterate quickly based on changing market conditions• Tech Stack: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Chef, OpenStack, Redis

I was an engineer, then manager, on the Windows Live team, where I worked on large-scale distributed systems backing Hotmail and Messenger. Key feature areas included:• Geo-locating ~1 billion user accounts between multiple data centres • Building and scaling the Windows Live newsfeed to ~100 million users• Using SSIS and SSRS to analyze performance data and come up with projections• Data-mining MSN Messenger contacts data to construct social graph• Managed a team of 8 engineers: mentoring, coaching, and hiring engineers, writing performance reviews, etc.• Tech Stack: C#, ASP .NET, SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, HTML5/JavaScript-based touchscreen “metro” app
