His earliest childhood ambition was to become a garbage man. He finally achieved it on Christmas Day in 2019, when he was officially designated "Garbage Management Engineer" for his multigenerational household and neighborhood. Now, he proudly says: "At last, I'm doing 'essential work!' "Before that, while earning his doctorate at the #University of Chicago, he studied obstetrics and gynecology, human sexuality, medical research on human subjects and end of life care. Concurrently, he won a #First Amendment case against the City of Chicago, helped create and manage the Chicago #Clergy Consultation Service on Abortion and was an #Interuniversity Traveling Scholar at the #Kinsey Institute for Sex Research. Upon completing his doctoral work in Chicago, he became Co-director of New Clinic Development for #Women's Services in New York City, which rapidly became the largest, freestanding, outpatient surgical center in the world. Later, he was recruited as a Vice President and senior executive for #Hill & Knowlton in Los Angeles; a healthcare subject matter expert for #Motorola, and appointed as a founding board member of the #Continua Health Alliance, dealing with the global convergence of telecommunications, software, medical devices and consumer electronics. As founder and later chairman of Health Resources, Ltd., he became nationally-known as a healthcare strategy, management and marketing leader, specializing in health systems development, national retail clinics and medical mergers and acquisitions. His clients have included a half dozen #Fortune 500 companies and a series of hospitals, health systems and medical groups.His published writings and commentaries have appeared in multiple media, including #Modern Healthcare, #Medical Economics, #Real Estate Today, the Kansas City Star, the #Kansas City Business Journal, medical association journals in Missouri, Kansas, California and Florida, #Healthcare Strategic Management and as a copyright-retained cover story on medical franchising for the Journal of the #Medical Group Management Association. To help advance professional education, he has taught in graduate schools of medicine, business, pharmacy and law. He was the founder of the Trenton (NJ) Federation of Teachers (AFT-AFL-CIO) and later served on a number of boards of directors, including the ACLU of Florida, University of Chicago Alumni Club of Mid-Florida, #International Visitors Council of Los Angeles, Funeral and Memorial Society of Greater Kansas City and the #American Marketing Association of Kansas City.
