Responsible for the full project life-cycle (architecture, design and implementation) of a new MAN and data centre network implementation, based on Cisco Nexus 7000. This involves liaising between third parties, senior management, technical staff and vendors. In addition, it involves a number of networking technologies such as OTV, vPC, Fabric Path, FCoE and network virtualisation.

Freelance Network Architect working with a number of consultancies and resellers to provide services to end customers in a variety of industries (banking, finance, service provider and VDI). Required to take responsibility for pre-sales, customer services, project management and administration. Providing the full range of network consultancy services from architecture, design and implementation through to support. This requires expertise in a wide range of networking technology such as routing, switching, MPLS, firewalls and load balancing.

Working within the BNP Paribas Global Telecoms Architecture team. This involved setting standards for the design and deployment of the worldwide WAN. In addition, the architecture team was responsible for undertaking first of type deployments and providing third line support. • Developed configuration standards for securing Cisco IPT with Check Point firewalls. • Testing new routing and switching platforms (HP A Series and Alcatel Lucent OmniAccess).• Global design for the routing of market data network traffic.• Modelled the network impact of a global Microsoft Exchange deployment.

Working on site at VTB Capital investment bank with responsibility for the design, implementation and support of the VTB Capital global data network. Led the design and implementation of a new B2B\Market Data network in Moscow.

Operating within BT Health as a Tier One Solutions Architect on the London NHS IT Programme. Responsible for the architecture and design of the virtualised data centre network platform used for hosting NHS Trust applications. This involved the integration of a range of technologies such as Cisco 6509, ACE modules, FWSM, Check Point\Nokia firewalls and Crossbeam. • Delivered a new Internet application hosting environment for Health applications.• Lead the implementation of a network design toolset.• Designed the integration of Crossbeam UTM into the existing application hosting environment.

Network Architect for a new multi-million pound e-Commerce infrastructure for Norwich Union. This involved developing the concepts of the architecture, product selection, high & low level design, supporting the implementation and overseeing the transition into operations. Key to successful delivery of this programme was strong technical understanding of the network architecture, in addition to close relationships with the customer, suppliers, the C&W sales team and C&W management. · Developed architecture for a state of the art, secure, resilient and scalable e-Commerce infrastructure.· Played a central pre-sales role in the sale of this multi-million architecture and managed service contract.· Oversaw the successful implementation of the entire infrastructure. · This infrastructure was short-listed for a Cisco Networkers 2007 Technical Innovation Award (Best Data Centre Project).

Network designer for the extension of the Norwich Union e-Commerce network infrastructure to a green fields data centre. The brief was to build a new infrastructure and connect it at layer two to an existing data centre. This would facilitate the lift and shift of existing servers.· Designed and extended an existing e-Commerce infrastructure to a new data centre. · 150 fibre inter-switch connections to the new data centre were implemented successfully.· The new infrastructure was implemented within a highly volatile and business critical environment, on time and with no major outages.

Design authority on a large infrastructure account, the role involved assessing and approving all major technical changes. The role also required the development of new business opportunities to improve the infrastructure.· Resolved issues preventing the hosting of numerous web-servers in a new data centre · Planned the upgrade of the local area network at the UK head office· Acted as technical design authority for an infrastructure

Worked as team leader for a team of six network engineers and three database administrators. The team was responsible for the maintenance and development of the client network infrastructure. An emphasis was placed on building a close relationship with the client and seeking new business opportunities. This lead to infrastructure initiatives where the role required management of the full project lifecycle from business case, through design, implementation and testing. · Designed and implemented a new network core utilising Cisco 4506 multi-layer switches· Implemented two SANs which provided storage for all key ECGD systems· Provided the infrastructure for a major systems integration initiative, including a new WAN link, SAN enhancements and a Windows Oracle environment· Maintained infrastructure within service level agreements for a two year period
