About Hamza Ijaz

I have been associated with the policy and research sector for the last 13 years and have a rich experience of both qualitative and quantitative research, programing and evaluations. Currently working as the Program Officer at United States Institute of Peace, I am responsible for developing and managing partnerships with public sector, civil society and private sector enterprises. Having previously worked as Director Research at Musawi, I have experience of developing design of all projects undertaken by the organization and led the Local Government and the Sustainabe Agenda 2030 Portfolios at Musawi. I was also the team lead for development of the Punjab IT Policy and the National IT Census at the Punjab IT Board.. Moreover, as an Agriculture Economist at the Punjab Agriculture Commission, I was responsible for the formulation of the Punjab Agriculture Policy as well as to design and conduct research related to the agriculture sector in Punjab under the World Bank-funded SMART Program. A DAAD scholar with Masters in Governance & Public Policy, I have also worked as an M&E Consultant for the British Council, Junior Expert (Data Analysis) for the European Union’s Access to Justice Project, as well as Junior Consultant for DFID-funded evaluation of the International Growth Center (IGC) Pakistan. In addition to these, I have used qualitative and quantitative techniques to assess the impact of micro-health insurance programs in Pakistan, custodial torture in prisons and analyze the performance of national institutions such as the National Assembly, National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Pakistan etc.
