In 2004, I graduated from Washington State University as a captain of the football team and a member of the President’s Honor Roll, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences; Go Cougs. This launched me into a seven-year NFL career, where I played for the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals. Along the way, I balanced my passion for football with my faith, even observing Ramadan while competing in the NFL—a story featured in The New York Times and ESPN.After leaving the NFL in 2012 to perform the Hajj pilgrimage, I embraced a new path: mentoring, educating, and empowering athletes, especially Muslim youth. I’ve spoken at numerous colleges, partnered with my brothers to create the Ashab Network—a platform connecting accomplished Muslim athletes—and published my memoir, “Hamza Abdullah: Come Follow Me.”Today, I serve as a professional big brother, helping school districts create success plans for Muslim students and athletes, with a special focus on supporting them during Ramadan. I’m also a high school football coach, author of "Coach Hamza’s Guide for Athletes…in Ramadan,” and working on projects that aim to improve mental health and ease life transitions for individuals and families.My journey—from the NFL to serving communities—has been driven by my desire to uplift and support others at every step.
