Hamzeh Koumakli Email and Phone Number
Oh, hello there!Ever since I was a little kid, I was captivated by the complexity and richness of the Arabic language. I can still remember the long discussions and contests we had over the dinner table. My siblings and I would say a verse and the others had to come up with another that begins with the last letter of it.When I got older, and after witnessing the terrible losses in lives and property during the Syrian war, I was determined to become a doctor, to save as many lives as I can.Syria is the only country that teaches medicine in Arabic in the world. Accordingly, medical students had to face the language barrier to make it through a daily changing speciality. So, I take it upon myself to re-enrich the Arabic language. And I think students and youth, in general, can play a vital role in this. These three interrelated pillars of my life, to enrich the Arabic language, to save lives, and to harness youth's power to do so, got me to join many organizations that share one or more of these goals with me.So far, I have translated more than half a million words, most of them are health-related. The enriching process is in full swing. With Infermedica, I helped introduce an online free triage and diagnosis tool to the Arabic speaking community, and more recently, a COVID-19 assessment tool that has been implemented by many countries and health providers. This kind of work is ideal for me, as it unfolds a lot of my goals. It is the perfect fit for me, as I am a doctor and a medical translator. So, when I am translating, I can put myself in the shoes of the patient or the doctor. Some people think that most doctors went to med-school because of their parents. On the contrary, I like medicine a lot, and I always want to keep up with the scientific literature. And I am still searching for ways that I can benefit others from my language and medical knowledge, and that is why I have volunteered in many organizations and charities to fulfil this purpose, which occupies most of my time outside work.Eventually, I have launched my personal blog. https://HamzehKoumakli.comSo, feel free to check it out, contact me if you have any questions or hit that connect button above.
