About Han Yao

As a professional in residence life at Duke Kunshan University, I foster environments that celebrate diversity. By blending cultures, I ensure enriching interactions. I tackle challenges with strategic collaboration for our community's benefit. My path to DKU has been one of continuous growth and learning. With a background in psychology, I've always been curious about human experiences. Transitioning to DKU was a chance to apply this curiosity on a broader scale. While I've been privileged to take on roles of responsibility, it's the lessons from students and colleagues that have truly shaped my journey. At the heart of it all, it's the connections with students that I cherish most. I’m constantly inspired by their stories and perspectives. While I aim to offer guidance and create a supportive environment, it’s often the students who teach me about resilience, diversity, and thriving in new environments.Outside of my work, my passions are simple. Jazz has always been my go-to for those moments when I need to relax or reflect and I genuinely appreciate the fresh perspectives gained from my travels. As I aspire to earn my PADI certificate, I'm reminded of the vastness of the world and how much there still is to explore and learn.
