I grew up in Dallas and relocated to Baton Rouge, where I attended LSU. I majored in chemistry, minored in anthropology, and obtained a secondary education teaching certificate as well. One of my passions is educating and mentoring young people. I have had the pleasure of teaching chemistry, chemistry honors, and physical science for the last 6 years. In my free time, I tutor current and former students, as well as students from other schools. It is extremely fulfilling to hear that students have been inspired to pursue a career in the STEM disciplines as a result of my guidance and their hard work.I have also worked part time as a server at a local restaurant for the last 5 years. I love building professional relationships with my regular customers and I live to give people a positive experience. I am a textbook people person.Prior to this, I worked in an analytical chemistry lab, studying the correlation between carbon and coastline erosion. It was a job where I did not interact with too many people, but I learned a lot about compiling data and I put my degree to good use.I have friends and family all over the world and I love to travel and experience different cultures. I went to France and The Dominican Republic last year, and I hope to do some more adventuring this year!I have never been afraid to try new things. I have climbed an active volcano, played roller derby, and founded 2 student-led organizations (Wishmakers at LSU and Environmental Science Club). I love being active and am always trying out new hobbies. My most recent outlet is making jewelry.I have a long history of volunteer work, and I currently pour that energy into running an Environmental Science Club for young people. Our club has helped to educate students on water quality, plastics, environmental activism, bird species in Louisiana, wildlife conservation, and sustainable fishing practices among other things. It is my joy that I have been able to facilitate the installation of many pollinator plants on campus and outdoor classrooms. Additionally, we have had the pleasure of partnering with LSU Coastal Roots to grow thousands of trees and help repopulate the coastline.
