Automated Emissions Reduction (AER)is a technology offered by our partners (smart device and controls companies), that automatically reduces emissions from electricity use by optimizing operation based on a marginal emissions signal from WattTime. AER shifts energy automatically throughout the day, every day of the year from high emissions times to low emissions times (a type of demand management).AER empowers flexible, electricity-using devices to reduce their pollution impacts. By prioritizing use during times when renewable energy is abundant, AER helps improve the financial performance existing renewable resources, and makes the market more favorable for new utility-scale renewables to be built. It also helps to avoid electricity use when highly polluting generators would respond, thereby incentivizing the early retirement of the dirtiest power plants. AER accelerates the transition to a carbon-free electricity grid.I help device partners to integrate WattTime's data (via API) into their products and platforms, and to develop algorithms that help them reduce GHG emissions while still achieving their other objectives (cost reduction, comfort preferences, etc.).
