I worked as a Swedish-Arabic translator, both in person and through telephone. This job for me is my unemployment activity as I work with it every time I’m between jobs.

I had to develop and maintain relations with sponsors and partners to be able to provide a variety of activities to participants. A big part of the job depended on establishing contacts, spreading information about the support groups run by the Red Cross and the refugees’ situation. My goal was to develop and spread the group to particularly vulnerable neighborhoods. Recruitment and educating volunteers fell under my responsibility as well as always finding new ways to reach participants. This meant continues communication with schools and government agencies. I had two responsibilities at the communal school of languages. The first was teaching children with arabic backgrounds their mother tongue. The second responsibility was to mentor and help children new to Sweden with arabic backgrounds to adjust and keep up with their studies in the swedish language.

I worked in the Duty-Free Shop at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. My duties were to help both shoppers find what they seek and recommend gifts and products. Work at the cashier when ever needed, and guide travellers to find gates, places and other shops in the vicinity of the airport. It was a great experience working in such an international and multicultural workplace.

As an extra job on the side, I worked at different warehouses and industrial jobs. The work was quite physical but a good relief during study times.

During my studies at Mälardalen university, I worked at manpower staffing agency who sent me to work at different warehouses and industries.
