• Conducted research on investigation of host-immune response to cerebral malaria with a focus on the role of innate immunity during pathogenesis of cerebral malaria• Generated pre-clinical data to support a randomized clinical trial• Directly supervised and mentored 7 students• Resulted in total of 9 publications (plus one pending)

• Study Title: Estimating effective vaccination coverage with immune markers - Validation of anti-tetanus toxoid IgG and anti-measles IgG assays with dried blood spots and oral fluid samples in western Kenya• Provided oversight and project management to set up the study in Kisumu, Kenya• Developed a new partnership by identifying a key partner for the study, hiring new personnel and training the staff on the lab techniques and the overall study protocol
