About Hani Roustom

An engaging thought leader, memory maker, culture and community builder, I believe to truly understand luxury travel and lifestyle you must experience and adore it. Having travelled to over 70 countries and explored many cultures, I pride myself in being a global citizen. I have worked at top luxury hotel brands and have a deep understanding of what it takes to build a brand that stands out for excellence in guest experience, while focusing on increasing profitability and asset valuation. I am also a member of the Standards Advisory Committee of the Forbes Travel Guide. My focus is on optimizing hotel & resort business and building communities within individual properties and the industry as a whole. Looking at a hotel’s role in its community is good for guests, the city and business. Creativity in enhancing the surrounding community has laid the foundation for my efforts in increasing occupancy and guest satisfaction. Through my roles as General Manger & Managing Director, I have learned to optimize the value of the assets which I am entrusted. At my current home base in Toronto, my involvement in many of the city’s most transformative projects in the luxury hospitality scene has helped me understand the importance of cooperation across industry sectors for the common good. Toward this goal, I participated in Mayor Tory’s LA Mission, promoting Toronto as a leading destination for film & entertainment production. Along with other leaders, I helped orchestrate the relocation of Toronto Fashion Week to Yorkville. This was pivotal in further elevating the status of Yorkville as a top fashion destination. The halo effect for The Hazelton Hotel was a substantial lift in positioning, and increase in profitability & occupancy. During my time at The Hazelton, the hotel attained & retained its number 1 ranking on Trip Advisor for 4 consecutive years and was deemed the finest boutique hotel in the city. A key benchmark to measure my success is my ability to inspire and develop talent. To that end, I worked with a coalition of industry leaders to address the labour shortage in hospitality and launched Be-Our-Guest. The program is a student co-op aimed at introducing a new generation of leaders to the exciting world of hospitality & tourism. The trickle down benefit is seen across the industry. I continually seek out positive change because I realize that nothing in life is ever permanent. Now, more than ever, we need leaders who think and act like global citizens, and who are willing to come together to transform the way we live, travel and do business.
