My undergraduate and postgraduate studies focused mainly on science and engineering. My study of Chemistry at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) taught me how the physical world works, from atoms to the universe. In addition, some mathematical courses, such as calculus, linear algebra, complex variables functions, equations of mathematical physics, and computing methods, allowed me to develop my mathematical and computing skills. From 2016 to 2020, I did scientific research in a chemical laboratory. During the academic input and experimental output, I gained an incredible amount of knowledge and experience to be professional. I published two first-authored academic articles and seven co-authored articles in international journals and obtained three Chinese patents in these years.Before my study at Bayes Business School, I enrolled in the FRM curriculum to improve my general understanding of finance and risk management. I passed the 2020 November exam with a grade of three 'excellent' and one 'good', which is demanding for a student without a financial background. I entered the FRM part II exams in November 2022 and was delighted to receive the congratulatory letter from GARP that I had passed part II and would become a candidate for the FRM Certification. After that, I was awarded a CFA Program Student Scholarship and was able to pursue further development in my professional finance career.The year at Bayes Business School was exciting and invaluable. I graduated in October 2023, with a Distinction in MSc in Banking and International Finance and I have acquired a strong foundation in banking and finance through courses such as Bank Risk Management, Global Banking, Fixed Income, Corporate Finance, and Data Analytics for Banking and Finance. With my great interest in banking and finance, my dissertation experience involved collaborating with the Bank of England, where I conducted in-depth research on banks' financial performance and interest rate risk, employing advanced quantitative techniques, including panel analysis and machine learning with Python. This experience not only allowed me to work closely with industry professionals but also reinforced my proficiency in financial analysis and data analytics. While studying at Bayes Business School, I also worked part-time as a research assistant on data cleaning and processing using Python, SQL, and Bloomberg Terminal. This experience honed my ability in data processing and provided valuable opportunities to enhance my communication skills and collaborate with team members.
