I still remember my very first sudoku - I saw a puzzle book on my friend’s coffee table, picked it up, and an hour and a half later I looked up to find that the film we’d been watching was over and I hadn’t even noticed. I feel the same way when I’m coding! I have always loved solving puzzles but it used to be just a hobby. In my professional life I was a hospitality manager which was rewarding in many ways: I got to play a part in creating a memorable experience for our customers, I got to work in incredible teams, and I was able to support and mentor others which I’ve always enjoyed doing. It also did wonders for my resilience and communication skills. However, at some point I felt like I wasn’t learning and developing myself anymore and that’s when I knew I had to make a change. And when I discovered coding, I realised that I could turn my lifelong passion of solving puzzles into a career!I have since successfully completed Makers Web Development Bootcamp and also earned several online certifications, including a Front End Developer Nanodegree from Udacity and Coursera’s Full-Stack Web Development with React Specialization. I am familiar with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, React, Node.js, MongoDB, Heroku and more, and am always looking to improve my skills and learn new technologies.
