I created Rush's Rainbows three months after our 7 month old son passed away from Acute Respiratory Failure December 21st, 2022. More onto that below, but first I'd like to share life before loss and creating our successful 501(c)3 non-profit. Before our world shattered I created a state legal business called Happy Auer Arts where I would create commisioned hand painted artworks for buyers. I have a Bachelors Degree in Intermedia Arts and a minor in art history. I ran this business successfully for over four years growing my clientele and marketing my own business alongside doing my own taxes. After our son, Rush, passed away I was not in a head space to continue on doing what I used to. But I still loved and appreciated art and wondered how I could use my talents to help other families experiencing child loss. So with my background in arts and a passion to serve the people who have experienced the same devastating loss as my family, I created Rush's Rainbows. Here is our mission statement that I've created."The highest priority of Rush's Rainbows is to provide free digital drawings and mini care packages for bereaved families. It is our greatest honor to serve families who have lost children by curating these drawings and packages at absolutely no cost to the bereaved. As a family who lost a beautiful child far before their time, we understand that deep and unfathomable pain that comes with child loss. By creating these drawings and packages this our way to not only keep our sons memory alive but to keep the memory of your child alive too. You are not alone in this and our hope is to create a community here where you can share your story."Since creating Rush's Rainbows we've created a community where families can feel safe talking about their deceased children and grief. Through Instagram alone in the last 9-10 months we've gathered 10.6k supporters and fellow bereaved families and on Facebook we have reached almost 5k. We have sent 150+ care packages statewide, to Canada, the UK, and Norway. I have also created well over 200 drawings for grieving families in the last 9-10 months. We have partnered with Riley Children's Hospital Cheer Guild, IU North bereavement unit, and IU South Labor and Delivery unit to donate custom support/care baskets to their families experiencing the loss of a child. We truly believe our Rush has helped save many lives by just sharing his story and that even though he isn't here to physically fulfill his life's purpose, that his family can carry on his light and legacy for the rest of our lives.
