Gained experience in cognitive behavioral therapy by sitting in on and participating in a practice that combines elements of talk therapy with physical activity in the form of low impact, engaging movement. Learned about the mind-body approach to therapy and taught children and adolescents, ages 7-14 years old, the benefits of physical movement on your mental health, and the CBT skills you can use day-to-day to combat stress and anxiety.

Psychology Research Assistant for the Transformative Self Lab led by Dr. Jack Bauer. I worked with other student research assistants on the team to identify themes in people's life stories, such as love, wisdom, happiness, and growth in work-life, relationships, major life decisions, etc. I gained experience in coding and analyzing excerpts from the research participant's interviews and met weekly with the team to compare data and code for inter-rater reliability.

Off-campus internship learning from a residential facility, The Ranch of Opportunity, for teenage girls who have experienced and witnessed abuse and other trauma, including some girls involved in human trafficking. I built a schedule to attend the facility twice a week to build trust and maintain strong relationships with the staff and individual clients. I learned how they use animal-assisted therapy through their equine program and 22 acres of land, along with sitting in on and participating in their daily group therapy sessions.

Spread awareness of the sorority's philanthropy, Read>Lead>Achieve, and our mission to help and support the literacy of students in the Dayton Public School system. I communicated with the chapter about available service options and assure that they meet their philanthropic requirements while working as a team with the VP of Community Relations and Director of Social Media. Additionally, I helped raise money toward our philanthropy and encouraged others outside the chapter to donate.
