The Young Tourism Leaders Program is an initiative of the Department of Innovation, Tourism Industry Development and the Commonwealth Games, supported by the Department of Education. The program provides influential and inspiring role models to encourage young people to consider a career in the tourism industry.The leaders make presentations in schools, engage with vocational and tertiary students, participate in careers events to promote tourism careers, and actively connect with the tourism industry to promote the skills and talents which young tourism professionals offer.

Ede Events is Townsville’s largest and most established event hire company. My role involved administrative duties, assisting clients with hire bookings, set up and pack down of events as well as balloon styling and retail operations in the Ede Events Party store. The type of events varied from large festivals to small backyard gatherings.

Moranbah

I completed my Certificate lll in Events through a school-based traineeship with Minto Business Group (Big On Shoes, Moranbah Blooms & Events and TM3 Training Solutions). This involved event organisation across all three businesses including VIP sale nights, training workshops and the annual Mayor's Charity Ball 2015 (attended by 300 people). This position involved retail operations across the stores including customer service, visual merchandising, processing website orders, and opening and closing store as well as administrative duties such as banking, HR rosters and managing customer and client databases. I also assisted with marketing for each of the businesses. In 2015 I won School-based Trainee of the Year for the Queensland Training Awards CQ region.
