I am a Professor in Sustainable Energy. As a faculty member in University College Cork's School of Engineering, I lecture on sustainable energy topics and lead research focused on mapping deep decarbonisation pathways for Ireland with the Energy Policy and Modelling Group, affiliated with the SFI MaREI centre and ERI. I am interested in the challenges and opportunities for transformative climate action, and frequently comment in the media on these topics, including thought my monthly column in the Irish Times, "At a Time of Climate Crisis".I have previously been the focal point for energy access at the International Energy Agency as part of the World Energy Outlook team, and a researcher and energy modeller with the UCL Energy Institute. I have broad expertise in building, linking and applying energy models for whole systems (with particular expertise in transport and buildings sectors) to address national and global energy and sustainability issues, engaging with policymakers, civil society and academia.
