Within my role as national development officer with SCSN I work to support the community safety sector in Scotland through a variety of means including;Developing and providing advice and guidance to a range of senior managers and community safety officers - this include my role as link officer to a number of local community safety partnerships, facilitating strategic planning and priority-setting events in addition to writing briefing papers and newsletter on policy developments and… Show more Within my role as national development officer with SCSN I work to support the community safety sector in Scotland through a variety of means including;Developing and providing advice and guidance to a range of senior managers and community safety officers - this include my role as link officer to a number of local community safety partnerships, facilitating strategic planning and priority-setting events in addition to writing briefing papers and newsletter on policy developments and consultations within community safety.Representing SCSN in relation to specific policy areas/specialism and make professional presentations to both internal and external audiences. This has included developing and presenting on a cost-benefit toolkit for community safety interventions and a paper on national data sources.Participated in funding and awards processes including Cashback for Communities dance fund and the National Community safety awards.Providing a strategic link to SCSN partner organisations and developing collaborative working relationships - this has included creating and supporting the Scottish partnership analyst forum and linking with other colleagues including Improvement Service, higher education institutions, the Scottish Police Authority, Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.To prepare a broad range of reports, policy documents and other materials providing analysis, context and advice on often complex issues. Tasked with continuing the national strategic assessment / evidence base on unintentional harm for Scotland in order to inform the Phase 2 steering group and Building Safer Communities Programme Board of potential priorities for this workstream, next steps for development (for the workstream and from an analytical perspective) and developing some options for a stretch aim and performance monitoring.

This role involved working in partnership with Lothian and Borders Police, West Lothian Council, Lothian and Borders fire and rescue service and a number of other partners to develop the analytical provision for the Community Safety Partnership in West Lothian.It included playing a key role in the development of the partnership community safety unit and developing the CSP structure and key processes. This role involved analysing data and intelligence relating to crime and safety in and on the railways and stations within BTP's north east area. It included supplying analysis of trends to support the deployment of officers on a daily basis and supporting monthly tactical tasking and coordination. I was also involved in writing chapters of the local strategic assessment.
