I am a Small Business Manager with Barclays UK. Through my role, I have the opportunity to meet a wide variety of incredible small businesses and to assist them in achieving their goals, whether as start-ups or existing SMEs looking to take their business to the next level. I am an enthusiastic supporter and champion for small businesses and entrepreneurs, and a strong believer in their importance in our economy. I am also particularly interested in supporting innovative and sustainable trailblazers and how their businesses can improve our economy and ultimately society. In June 2017, I graduated from the internationally renowned Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow, achieving a First in MA(SocSci) Business & Management. Over the four years of my degree, I enjoyed learning about the theories and contemporary issues that surround the world of business, particularly concerning strategy, sustainability, and change management. I look to apply the research and ideas I have learned to every role I undertake.Outside of my work, I have been very active in both the local and global community. I work for my family charity, Maurissa’s Wish, and also took the time to run my local parish youth group. Beyond my local community, I have been involved in FairTrade, Mary’s Meals, and Malawi charities, and have been able to understand how we – the next generation of business leaders - can make an impact on global issues such as poverty, education and equal rights. I also had the chance to be part of a select group of students to take part in the European Parliament’s ‘Euroscola’ initiative, improving my confidence in communicating in other languages, such as French and Spanish, and understanding the political background of business decisions.
