As well as my role of co-host with Dan Culmer, founder of Word Up! I am responsible for the creation of a revenue stream for the business, to enable us to work with more schools and local businesses in our mission to make all voices heard. Starting from scratch I have concentrated on the PR and marketing side of the business, with increasingly successful outcomes. After a 7 year ‘career break’ raising my 3 small boys. I wanted to do something I loved, so decided to buy and sell lovely vintage bits and bobs that I sourced from contacts I had. Selling out of a room in my house, we attracted the attention of Red magazine, who did a 5 page feature on us. People would ask if my own personal items were for sale, so I then began designing products based on what I and my customers wanted.Between 2012 and now I have been a contestant on The Great interior Design Challenge on BBC2, where I was described as ‘A really talented designer…she’s exciting, she’s definitely the one to watch…I absolutely love her flair and creativity’ by Sophie Robinson, Ideal Home stylist and Judge. I also participated in a pilot for a new show with Deborah Meadon and had a day’s mentoring from her. My home has had a 13 page feature in Ideal Home magazine. I have designed a set of award winning children’s educational placemats. I have co-designed a range of scented candles with cute quotes on that glow as the candle burns. In January 2016 I started designing real neon. This was on show at our launch for our candles, and I was told about LED neon and how it looks like the real deal, but is more environmentally friendly, robust and low voltage. We had so many people wanting to buy our ‘You are loved’ neon that I decided to go into production of a set of designs, offering customers the opportunity to create any bespoke design or name that they wish.I opened a shop in the high street in Tunbridge wells in 2015 and won Shop front of the year twice for our amazing window displays. In summer of this year, my neon light range was picked up by the amazing Rocket St George and been launched in their concession in Liberty in London. We have just been accepted as partners on Not on the High Street, a goal of mine. Last week Jo Malone MBE asked me to design a neon installation for her shop front for her Jo Loves store in London!
