Paytonlayne's Place, Inc. was founded by Stephanie Holstead, Hillarie Holstead, and myself. We began with the vision to provide a space for young adults with developmental disabilities to build a routine around after they finish their schooling. Starting from the ground up, we began with just special events catered to young adults in our area. That was closely followed by a local partnership allowing us to host a Social Day Camp once a month, which has further progressed to once a week, with some exceptions. During the summer months, we were able to host a summer day camp for four consecutive days. Each day camp consists of a volunteer opportunity within our community, an outing of some kind, whether that be to lunch or to the park, followed by arts and crafts, games, seasonal activities and movies with their friends. My personal responsibilities range from handling the website and registration forms, communicating with the parents/guardians prior to each day camp, assisting in the planning of each day camp and communicating with restaurants, tracking donations and issuing receipts, researching grants, assisting with the design of promotional items and staff/camper t-shirts, and running each day camp. This includes tracking campers as they arrive, maintaining awareness of their locations and activities throughout the day and as we go on various outings, and budgeting and tracking spending.
