I worked as a invaluable Front of House member of the Remo's family. My role predominantly consisted of serving and waiting on customers, and preparing soft drinks, coffee and cakes. I also assisted in the opening and closing of the establishment, including the purchasing of necessary foodstuffs and the cleaning of the premises to a high standard. Through working as a server and barista at Remo’s, I developed quick relationships with both my colleagues and, as an independent café, I became familiar with many regular customers and became proficient in remembering specific orders.

I worked as a bartender with hap Solutions Group at various festivals over the summer of 2022. It lead me to adapt my communication skills to a fast-paced and stressful environment whilst learning the importance of effective communication with the other 20-30 staff working on the bar, and with the customers to ensure they are served quickly and correctly.Through working with hap Solutions Group as Front of House, relationships had to be quickly made between the other staff members in order to ensure an effective work environment. Creating strong relationships is crucial during the fast-paced setting of behind a bar, particularly when bartending on festival sites. Despite the high-pressure environment, I was consistently able to provide fast and friendly customer service to the festival-goers.

Being the Head of Relations for Valefest, a student-run music festival at the University of Birmingham, I oversaw a group of 5 other students who volunteered their time to organise the festival’s catering, stalls, charities and sponsorship. I spearheaded the festival’s sponsorship and used multiple channels including LinkedIn and university connections to research potential partners, landing on Reddit, Fountain Seltzers UK and Careers Network UoB.

Working 12 hours a week at two different collèges (students aged 11-15 years old) in Bordeaux to assist in their learning of the English language. The role consists of presenting in front of classes of up to 30 students on matters of the English culture and working with small groups on specific issues. Weekly lesson plans are crucial in teaching them efficiently, with two versions of the same presentation frequently being made for the different language levels of the 11 year olds versus the 15 year olds.The additional challenge of COVID-19 proved considerable as teaching and learning a language through a mask was very challenging. Adaptations had to thus be made to any teaching material.

An hourly-paid job as an Aim Higher mentor to four Year 10 boys at a local Birmingham school.This role includes preparing half an hour weekly sessions that are one-on-one with each student, with the overall topic and specificity varying for each individual.

It included responsibilities such as; representing the university to teachers and students of a variety of ages during Open Days or Campus Visits, leading campus tours, being responsible for small to large groups of students. Regarding working the Academic Enrichment Programme (AEP) Summer School in August, it included 24 hour supervision of sixteen and seventeen year old students, leading groups to and from academic sessions and being responsible for their general well-being. This was then followed with a period of time up to December which included e-mentoring students on their university personal statements.This job was a part-time, hourly-paid role.
