I am a graduate student in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I am currently working towards getting my Master’s in Accounting and have intentions to sit for the CPA while doing so. I have always been a very competitive individual and constantly strive towards improving myself for the greater benefit of the organization or company I am working under. While being a member of the Pride of the Southland Band, I have been able to self-assess my short-comings and work towards minimizing them in order to maintain the prestige and precision of the organization. In addition, being in this organization has also helped me to further enhance my relationship and communication skills as I have had to perfectly coordinate and synergize with all 300 individuals within the group.My current career goal is to become a certified public accountant. Some of my business interests which align with this goal include understanding how company financials determine the success or failure of a company and using interpersonal skills to help with problem solving. The experiences I have been exposed to with my internship with MMAS CPA have prepared me to pursue a career where I can utilize my knowledge in accounting and client information management more effectively. For example, during my time at MMAS CPA, I helped gather and organize all incoming client documentation to help prepare tax returns and company financials. I believe having prior experience in this area of accounting is essential as I have observed that organization is key in accounting.
