Throughout this two-year internship, I took on a variety of software engineering tasks doing everything from adding new functionality in Jira using JavaScript to hosting user support sessions.Most commonly, I assisted with ABAP code enhancements to an SAP system used internationally by Siemens Energy and developed scripts within Worksoft Certify to automate system testing. In addition, I maintained extensive documentation of our SAP Document Management Application to optimize user support.However, my biggest project involved creating a desktop application to automate cost estimation for engineering parts. Previously, this process was inefficient and required manual examination of SAP data. To complete this project I worked with a diverse array of tools and tech. Here's a glimpse into my journey:-Used optical character recognition (Tesseract OCR) to extract data from SAP schematics-Created and updated SAP HANA tables with SQL scripting and Python triggers-Programmed a desktop application which pulled and processed data from SAP HANA to show an interactive estimate of part costs. -Designed the application's UI using Figma and AdobeXD.
