My greatest goal is to use my scientific and laboratory skills to make a positive impact on the lives of humans, animals, and the environment. I knew from a young age that my compassion for living things would guide my career path, but my passion for science also played a role, which led me to pursue an education and future career in biotechnology. I love spending time in the lab and analyzing my results to figure out why what happened, happened. I also love spending time in nature as a very slow hiker because I have to stop every few steps to get a better look at a plant, bug, moss, or the scenery. When I’m at home, I can be found reading, hanging out with my cat, or cooking a new plant-based recipe from one of my many cookbooks. I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, where I received two awards for outstanding academic achievement. There, I developed a love for hands-on experiments in the lab. This led me to pursue laboratory-based employment as a Grain Grader with SGS Canada Inc., and eventually return to school at Conestoga College in the Biotechnology Technician program, from which I graduated in April 2023 with High Distinction. I am a highly organized individual and I pride myself on my strong attention to detail. This keeps me motivated because the big picture and my goals are what drive me every day, but I recognize and respect the importance of the everyday tasks that will lead the way.
