Three years ago, I started pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Tarleton State under the PSA program. This program scheduled me to complete one year of education at Tarleton State and the other three at Texas A&M University. Within a few weeks, I realized psychology was not my long-term route. I decided to change majors and pioneer my way to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Unfortunately, with this change of heart came a change in my education path. The Finance degree was not supported under the PSA program to fast track to A&M. Therefore, once sophomore year hit, I determined that I wanted to continue my higher education at The University of Texas at Dallas' renowned School of Management, which cultivates one of the leading Finance degree programs in the state of Texas. I am currently navigating the Dallas lifestyle as a full-time student with a part-time job as a server and financial secretary. I recently completed a virtual internship with Independence Point Advisors, an investment banking firm on Wall Street. I'm grateful for the opportunity to expand my experience through this remarkable organization and translate the applicable skills gained throughout my professional career. I am expected to graduate fall of 2024. That said, I have about two years to discover the exact position I want to obtain after graduation. I plan to accumulate experience and knowledge in my last few years at The University of Texas at Dallas, which will guide me to a career in investment banking, financial analysis, risk assessing, asset managing, or other avenues in the corporate banking industry. Fortunately, The University of Texas at Dallas has a vast array of resources to support students like myself, looking to bolster our pursuits in professional development. I have also joined the Financial Leadership Association, a club that hosts Finance-specific events that have greatly influenced my understanding of the corporate and private sectors. With any free time (which is rare these days), I like going to the gym, exploring parks with my dog, or expanding my knowledge through online courses.
