Taught basic biology and ecology to 40 students (10-14) in S. Chicago with a focus on Illinois plant and animal education. Developed reports reviewable by Illinois EPA and state educational departments.

($6,000 award)Successfully developed and executed an interdisciplinary research project to merge biological studies of mychorrhizal communities among native plants and local environmental social justice issues.

Assisted Dr. Cheryl Swift in researching chaparral plant communities with regards to drought tolerance and fire tolerance. Managed five research projects and four (4) years of data tracking using SPSS, Microsoft Excel, and a selection of laboratory techniques.

Taught wilderness survival skills to over 10 groups comprised of 100+ Boy Scouts. Entrusted to organize each groups' food and items for a 10 day hike; and, effectively trained leadership skills to individuals within twelve crews in order to facilitate success for all groups.

Worked with Dr. Loretta Battaglia's research team to study several parameters of ecological changes in S. Illionois, Louisiana, and Florida. Managed and contributed to ten (10) years of studies, which was funded in part by a $250,000 grant by the U.S. government.
