After spending just over a decade in the recruitment sector working at management level I made the decision to look for a new challenge that would expand my knowledge, meet my personal values and still give me the buzz of supporting people to make positive changes to their lives.Since 2013 I have been working for RBLI and since 2017 delivering the Lets Get Working project as part of a partnership with SCDA and SEK two fantastic community led organisations.Lets Get Working is an exceptional project that has worked tirelessly to promote social inclusion, empowering individuals with long term health conditions to join the employment market and make positive sustainable changes to their own outcomes.I take enormous pleasure in each one of our participant successes - it isn't always getting them into work sometimes it is just helping them over the first hurdle. I am also really proud of the community network that I have been instrumental in drawing together across Medway, Maidstone and Tonbridge. Connecting community based providers to ensure that as a sector there is support for all who need it and that resources can be shared, to take away the complexities of access for already vulnerable community members. My key interaction with participants hasn't changed since my professional recruitment days. Understanding what they want from their next opportunity, where their strengths are, preparing them for interview, building their confidence and chances of success and walking through the whole process with them. Getting the recruitment process right can be the difference between business success and business failure. Equally getting the right job role with the right type of training and support in place is essential to building personal connectivity, confidence and development which in turn supports community resilience I believe honest, open and two way relationships are the starting point and my aim with all my clients is to deliver a professional service from day one that will lead to "trusted partner" status in the longer term.I love what I do I have always loved the job - nothing beats being a positive part of someone elses journey and watching them flourish and become their own potential.
