As an employee of Aker Solutions, I worked as Industrial PC (IPC) configuration expert, handling client-specific system configuration, component selection, replacement, and obsolescence management. I developed, in the VTScada system, complex software solutions in the state programming paradigm for existing systems and major production expansions at client sites. I also served as the primary point of contact for clients regarding project planning, system testing, and procurement for both IPC deployment and software modifications. Some of my work includes:• Set up the Modbus infrastructure for a subsea leak detection system• Wrote software to implement production shutdowns, system interlocks, and alarms based on hardware states and signal inputs• Implemented low-level configuration for hardware communicating with Aker Subsea Control Modules• Followed a rigorous test-based quality assurance plan for all software updates, including writing comprehensive test cases

I worked on a research team to develop an ongoing project called JagBot, which is designed to be an educational learning platform for students that will eventually give guided tours around Shelby Hall. As a student researcher on this project, I contributed to voice-recognition software for JagBot, transitioned JagBot from a cRio microcontroller to an Arduino Mega, and performed initial research into robotic flight attendants, taking timing measurements of JagBot’s motion and actuation and writing C++ code to simulate several different delivery strategies.

Santa Cruz, California

This was part of my experience in SURF-IT, Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Information Technology, and NSF-funded program designed to give undergraduates paid research experience. I designed and developed a testing rig for the Energy Scavenging Collar for Animal Physiology and Ecology (ESCAPE) to mimic canonical walk data from various animals. To accomplish this, I designed and soldered a prototype control circuit, implemented a state machine in C to track the rig's movement, and wrote control software in C to actuate its movement. Eventually, this will perform preliminary tests on different alternators by measuring voltage increases to test how well each alternator performed generating energy from simulated animal movements.
