I co-advise and helped launch a prison newspaper at Eddie Warrior Correctional Center as part of a pilot project to bring journalism to two women's prisons in Oklahoma. I worked with the nonprofits Poetic Justice and the Prison Journalism Project to run a summer workshop series for incarcerated writers on journalism and reporting basics, with an emphasis on ethics and duty of care. This pilot cohort is providing a national model to start newspapers at other prisons.

I worked with undergraduate and graduate students across all disciplines on their writing. That means I coached both native speakers and non-native speakers through the writing process while also leading hour-long workshops on various composition subjects for English classes.

I followed legislative proposals related to criminal justice and the death penalty and also interviewed key figures in past cases (juries, family members, etc.).
