There have been many amazing opportunities and experiences in my life, from working on my farm in rural Ohio to engaging in vastly different cultures as I traversed Europe and Africa. Each experience has refined me and continues to inspire me in my everyday life. Sometimes the simplest of things are the most beautiful and intriguing. The way people interact and communicate with each other is mesmerizing. A small encouragement can lead thousands of troops into battle, it can change the entire attitude of your staff!One of my favorite sayings is, "Hard work yields triumph." This does not mean the same thing as "pull yourself up by your bootstraps." That very American slogan in no way encompasses the network and support of others who help get you to where you are and where you want to be. I have big ambitions for my life (and I want it all now), but time and experience are sweet reminders to learn the value of presence. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing is so fluid. Tomorrow will not be the same as today and next year could land you in another city, in another job, in a different situation.My objective is to take hold of a passion, not just a job. What you do and where you work is a huge part of your life, and I desire for that time to have the best of me and my skills.Want to chat? Birth DoulaHappinest Birth Services Jan 2020 - PresentNew York City Metropolitan AreaThrough the work I did at PriorAuthNow (a healthcare startup) I saw first hand how hard it is to advocate for and receive the correct care, especially when up against your insurance company and the incentivized medical system. While running innovation programs, I have hone my skills for creating and delivery educational sessions. As well as a desire to improve the industry that is birth. Pulling those skills along and certifying as a birth doula in 2019, I have moved into the path of maternal and infant support as a full time role. At the heart, doulas exist because there is a gap in healthcare offerings for people that are pregnant and postpartum. Doulas are employed by the family, therefore they are focused only on that birthing person during labor, delivery, and postpartum; holding space and setting up a gentle environment. My ultimate goal is to support the birthing person, as a human, throughout pregnancy and the initial parental journey, regardless of the choices and circumstances that face us.
