During the (almost) two-year Graduate Program, I was rotated across teams within supply chain (SC) department (e.g. purchasing, inventory governance, and downstream contract) and outside SC (e.g. project commercial and warehouse) to obtain comprehensive exposure to Thiess SC through On-the-Job experience, coaching/mentoring, and formal training.I spent almost 70% of my rotation in downstream contract team and, under supervision of mentor and senior co-workers, my main duties are:- Carrying out contracting process including vendor selections, tender request, proposal evaluation and model costs (total cost of ownership / TCO);- Organizing tender clarification meeting with suppliers and stakeholders, finalizing contract with Legal department;- Applying Delegation of Authority & Procurement Policy- Executing formal negotiation on contract departures, terms of payment, cost, scope of work, time, delivery process, insurances, etc;- Maintaining and updating contract and saving registerFrom March to December 2020, I took part in Jakarta Head Office Relocation Project as a procurement representative together with a senior contract specialist. The duties are the same as above. However, I got the big picture of the office relocation process as I got involved since the beginning: - sourcing of potential buildings;- evaluating the proposals – finding the most attractive building through TCO model cost; and- observing the negotiation process between my mentor and the landlord of building; which variables that were being traded.
