Originally from the UK, I am based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where I run a boutique sales representation and market intelligence agency focused on the Southeast Asian tourism industry, Pear Anderson.Since arriving in Southeast Asia over 12 years ago, I have immersed myself thoroughly into the Southeast Asian travel industry through both B2C and B2B tourism industry roles, from building up outbound travel at one of the largest travel agencies in Malaysia, to founding my own travel startup which was subsequently acqui-hired by Malaysian travel technology company, GoQuo.I have criss-crossed Southeast Asia and gained a deep, first-hand insight into the trends developing in the region, as well as a passion for the potential of the Southeast Asian tourism industry. Since March 2020, I have published a free weekly report which tracks the recovery of the SE Asian tourism industry, and is read and used as a reference by thousands of tourism professionals across the world.My past and present clients include a variety of travel organisations, from tourism boards to attractions and tour operators, with the likes of Visit Britain, the Catalan Tourist Board, London Designer Outlet, Go West, Pilatus-Bahnen, Galería Canalejas and Velocity Ventures.I have authored reports and whitepapers on tourism, and have spoken on numerous occasions at prestigious travel conferences such as ITB Asia.
