As Manager for Advocacy & Partnerships, I lead the implementation of WOSM’s advocacy efforts together with WOSM’s Youth Representatives in efforts to raise Scouting’s profile to position us as a leader in the non-formal education space. I navigate nuanced relationships, follow policy processes, and understand best how to position Scouting in various advocacy spaces. During my time in the role, I have led the development, delivery and scale-up of the advocacy and community action strategy for WOSM advocacy efforts relating to education, peace, human rights, SDGs, gender and the environment, empowering young people to take action and speak out to influence decision-makers on a local, national and global scale. • Developed a bank of advocacy training resources and delivered advocacy training for 20 youth representatives, developing their leadership and communication skills as well as engaging decision-makers in their campaigns.• I am the lead staff member for the Global Youth Mobilization programme, enabling young people all over the world to access funding to deliver covid-recovery efforts in their countries. • I coordinate advocacy outreach by organising and participating in conferences, side events, webinars, and meetings with key stakeholders including UN agencies and NGOs to advance our advocacy agenda.

Lead on the delivery and scale-up of the advocacy and community action strategy for the Girl Powered Nutrition (GPN) programme, empowering young women and girls to take action and speak out about malnutrition to influence decision-makers on a local, national and global scale. In this role, I am responsible for the mobilisation of youth through advocacy and community action practices in Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Madagascar and the Philippines.• Developed a bank of advocacy training resources and delivered a 3-day residential in Madagascar for 30 girls, developing their leadership and communication skills as well as engaging decision-makers in their campaigns.• Organised and delivered a nutrition policy conference and structured dialogue opportunities between politicians, the media & 50 girl guides in Manila, Philippines (July 2019) and Dodoma, Tanzania (March 2020).• Chaired the first ‘Climate Action Interest Group’ at WAGGGS, coordinating our campaigning & advocacy efforts against climate change, both internally and externally.

Responsible for embedding a culture of youth participation into every aspect of UK Youth and supporting young people’s engagement to influence external policy and stakeholders.• Passion for inclusion, participation and co-creation led to the 68% increase in the next cohort of youth representatives identifying a diverse background or characteristic or facing one or more personal barriers.• Established and delivered a year-round training and policy consultation programme for both ‘UK Youth Voice’ youth representatives and the 300 member organisations based on the needs of the UK Youth movement.• Regularly delivered high-profile Parliamentary events alongside MP’s, Lords, young people and civil society. • Delivered a €50,000 Erasmus+ Key Action 3 programme for 35 young people in the UK and Ireland to engage in a structured dialogue policy development process with the British Irish Parliamentary Assembly and DexEU.• Commissioned for £30,000 by the British Council to support the development of their youth engagement and internationalism strategy, researching current practices and embedding the strategy into existing structures.

Working in the regeneration and planning department to support economic development in the community through building relationships, advising business startups, established business growth and special projects for inward investment, jobs and facilities in North Lincolnshire. Focused on identifying and bidding for new funding streams, training schemes and skills opportunities, managing projects with tight budgets and assisting businesses and community groups in both the Greater Lincolnshire and Humber Local Enterprise Partnerships with applications. I lead on three strategic projects: an Economic Development Marketing Strategy with a budget of £10,000, a cybercrime threat report to advise businesses on e-security measures and a comprehensive analysis of funding streams in North Lincolnshire. I supported the North Lincolnshire Business Network, a collaboration event enabling businesses to connect.

Responsible for managing a team of 15 young people aged between 16-18 enrolled on the NCS programme to make a difference in their community. During this time, they experience a residential in an outdoors activity centre fuelling their sense of adventure, followed by a home residential, meeting organisations in the community along with living independently. As Team Leader, I helped the young people learn about the issues around them, recognise their potential along with develop new interpersonal skills (teamwork, leadership and communication). Finally, to motivate and encourage the young people to complete a social action and fundraising project in an area of their choice.

Full time paid role, Director and Board of Trustees member, part of a four member elected officer team and senior management team within Teesside University Students’ Union. Executive responsibility for the governance and strategic leadership of a £2.5million charitable organisation and its assets with over 200 student and permanent staff members, representing 18,000 students locally and nationally, focusing under the remit of educational and academic issues. Re-elected for two terms to lobby on Course, Department, University and National level, running campaigns, policy development, large research projects and advocating for student engagement, quality assurance and enhancement. Responsible for many duties including large financial and reputational decisions, leading a team of 30 Student Representatives responsible for advice & representation, managing a tight campaigns budget and acting as a main spokesperson for the Students’ Union on press and media enquiries and for representation at external conferences.• Secured £1.8million of funding from HEFCE for 40 Postgraduate student scholarships at Teesside.• Boosted participation rates in Students’ Union Elections by 50% by encouraging diverse groups to stand. • Developed the first Student Charter: a partnership agreement between students and staff at Teesside University• Appointed NUS Student Engagement Ambassador for the North East region: championing the success of Teesside in the National Student Survey achieved record-breaking 83% student satisfaction: 7th in the country. My work led to me being awarded STAR Student Leader award in the May 2014 STAR Awards. • Built and maintained contacts in the HE sector with national recognition from NUS, QAA & other SU’s led to Teesside being shortlisted to the final 5 for Higher Education Students’ Union of the Year, NUS 2014.
