I find it easier to talk about other people than talk about myself so here are 5 things you should know about me.... 1) I love lists! Give me a to-do list and I'll get those tasks crossed off! I carry my bullet journal with me pretty much all the time (even if I'm just off to the supermarket it's not far from my reach!). 2) I am a nerd. I love spreadsheets and learning new things. I love working on data visualisation and taking those boring spreadsheets of numbers and making them that bit easier to understand. Oh and I know how to change the ink or toner in the printer and if I don't know I'll soon find out. Also I've installed new batteries in two MacBooks.... 3) I have experience in customer service, retail, hospitality and several other fields. I love working with people be that a team or working with clients or customers. 4) I love colour, I love yarn and I love knitting and crochet - but what's this got to do with a job? Well it means I'm detail orientated and can follow instructions. (But also know when to wing it and just see how something goes). I love colour and how they work together as well.5) I am a Mum of 2 boys which means I have a whole bunch of transferable skills that I learnt while being a stay at home Mum. There's diary management and transport plans - like who needs to be where and when, household management - when do we need to do shopping and when should we really put the bins out and many other skills that I have developed along the way.

When I first started I worked with a number of small businesses to get them started on social media or help to improve their social media presence. I took skills that I learnt either in education, through other work experience or things I had learnt in my own time to help other small businesses flourish. The thinking was that, there's that job that as a small business owner, you need to get done but it takes you hours so you put it off whereas someone like me "Your Hannah" could knock it out in half an hour and it be so much better than you think you can do. But I'm also the kind of person who would like to teach you to fish, not just give you the fish for today - so if you wanted to learn how to do the task not just have someone do it for you, then I could help with that too. Most recently I taught a client how to create IG stories and reels without having to worry about it being over complicated. With just some guidance and a push in the right direction, she's posting reels about her business most weeks now. Along side this I do a number of other tasks, I help to produce 3 podcasts - one of which has almost reached 50 episodes and 3000 listens. Then there's smaller tasks like invoice creation, booking childcare and label design for products. I've also edited and proofread social media posts and novels! -
All Rounder (Reception And F&B)A&O Hostels Jan 2023 - PresentCopenhagen, Capital Region, DenmarkAs an all round employee, I work flexibility in different areas around the hostel. I work in reception, bar, breakfast room and general service as needed. In the reception, I am responsible for checking in and checking out guests as well as dealing with customer queries. I use my computer skills to navigate ASSD (booking management system) as well as using other IT skills to find information for guests such as tourist information or transport information. I also use my skills with Word and Excel to create check lists as needed. As I am part of the reception team, I am often the first person people interact with when they arrive at the hostel, so it is important to offer great customer service and be able to provide them with correct and timely information for them to be able to enjoy their stay whether that's one night, one week or longer. At the bar, I serve hot and cold drinks as well as snacks. Part of this can also be making cocktails as required. During my shifts in the breakfast room, I prepare food for the breakfast buffet, top up cereals and make sure the coffee machine is ready for use. During the shift, I also load the dishwasher and return the clean cutlery to their rightful places ready for the next guests to be able to have their breakfast. -

If I have chance I might start replying to reviews before I head down to the breakfast room to greet and assist guests as needed. As they are finishing their breakfast, I might approach them and ask if they could share feedback online about their stay using the tablet. While they are filling that in, I might clear tables around them so that the tables are ready for new guests arriving in the breakfast room. Sometimes, this involves standing closer to the door and making sure that guests check in using the QR code system or by placing their coloured breakfast coin into the box (and directing those without it back to the reception for further assistance).Later in the morning, I will head back down to reception to approach guests during the check out procedure to see if they are willing to add reviews before they leave, or I will give them a card with a QR code that can be scanned to take them to the review page later. After housekeeping have finished cleaning the rooms, I head up to check on some of the rooms and make sure they a ready for our arriving guests, at this point I will also check for any defects that the maintenance team need to be aware of. This is where the problem solving comes in, can we fix the issue now, do we need to fix it later or does it need to be dealt with later (for instance if we need to order a part).Once room checks are complete, I head back to reception to update the defects list, check in on those reviews and again and get any admin bits completed before home time. While I’m “out and about” around the hotel, I try to be welcoming and acknowledge guests whether that’s by saying hello/good morning or maybe a smile. -
