From the ages of 15-16, I curated a highly successful makeup account on Instagram, under the handle @hannahdoesmakeupp. At the time of deciding to end my work on this account, my account had peaked at 40,000 followers. This growth was all achieved over the course of a year and 4 months, with the account starting on 0 followers. This rapid growth was due to my ability to produce viral and trending content, with viral posts amassing as much as 50,000 likes and 3,500,000 million impressions. My knack for producing viral content saw me play with reactionary content, being a credited participator in the ‘wiggle brow’ trend, and being the sole creator and credited influencer in the ‘halo brow’ trend. This led to a multitude of articles published about me in various online papers including Popsugar, Teen Vogue, the Sun, Buzzfeed, and far more. My face also appeared in the Chris Ramsey show, with my makeup looks discussed by the panelists, including the likes of Georgia Toffalo. This series of reactionary makeup looks I produced also resulted in Famous Birthdays reaching out to me for my permission to create a profile of me. Throughout my career I did not only succeed in exposure, but received many affiliate link purchases, leading to notable financial gain. This shows my skills are not just in exposure but in translating exposure into profitability. Though I chose to move away from this position due to a combination of an industry wide over saturation of the instagram makeup industry, and a desire to focus my energy on my a-levels and academic success, my skills in this area are clear.
