Responsibilities: Manage applicants through their application journey: provide a high level of support and advice to volunteers, review applications and conduct volunteer interviews, follow safe recruitment practices – DBS checks, obtaining appropriate references, completing risk assessments, communicate with a variety of stakeholders by phone, email and online. I trained 10 new starters. Volunteer survey: Responsible for managing and evaluating the volunteer survey. Impact ambassador: Communicate how we measure our impact and what our impact is internally, provide training to the wider team on evaluation and monitoring, delivering monthly presentations on impact. Detail – oriented: Input and maintain up to date volunteer records on Salesforce CRM and SharePoint, review references. Curiosity: Continually seek opportunities to improve the application experience to improve efficiency, ask questions and contribute to discussions outside my specialities. Achievements: Hold the record for number of volunteers onboarded in 1 day – 10 volunteers.

I was trained to conduct freshness checks which involved checking products for their sell by dates and discounting and writing off accordingly. This aspect of the role improved my attention to detail skills. I delivered exceptional customer service to a variety of customers ensuring their needs were put first at all times. Consequently, I developed my verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Teamwork was an essential aspect to the role particularly as the team was small, so flexibility in regard to completing tasks was fundamental.

I delivered excellent customer service and prioritised the customer’s needs. I interacted with a wide variety of customers and remained calm under pressure when serving at milestone events such as weddings and proms. From the role, I improved my verbal communication, adaptability and teamwork skills. As I worked here alongside studying, the role enhanced my time management and organisational skills.

I helped customers with any queries including locating items in the store. I gained experience in communicating with a variety of customers, each with different needs. I subsequently, adapted my approach to meet each customer’s needs.
