I moved the organization to a communications plan that was more strategic and more closely aligned with its mission.I oversaw a national, 3 year, several million dollar advertising and outreach campaign that rebranded and changed the way WIC programs across the country promote their work and recruit families. To be successful, I built relationships with every state WIC agency and many local WIC agenices.I managed all communications from social media to e-newsletters, fact sheet production to media interviews, often all before finishing my morning coffee.I worked with state and local agencies to understand the importance of digital strategy and policy. Within NWA, I increased our Facebook followers by approximately 50% in the first year and increased daily engagement from a few people to hundreds, sometimes thousands. As part of this, I did full day workshops in every region of the country.

I oversaw the organization's non-English online content from the website to email blasts to subtitling videos and translating infographics. I expanded the translation work to include more languages, more translators, quicker turn-around times, and helped create more culturally-relevant multilingual content. I also transitioned the organization to a web-based translation tool to improve accuracy, consistency and efficiency.

I transcribed, translated, and annotated interviews with Nicaraguan feminist activists, many of whom had been combatants during the Revolution. I also reviewed transcripts and translations completed by others, and provided cultural and historic background to the staff.

I was initially brought on for a weekend of data collection and ended up staying on for a couple years. I recruited, trained, and managed a bilingual team of interviewers, transcribers, and translators. We complete data collections and outreach across the state of Iowa including structure and semi-structured interviews in person and by phone, and surveys. I organized the transcription, translation, and review of 150 hours of radio programming. Later, I participated in the coding of the interviews.

I organized and recruited for 18 focus groups conducted in English and Spanish across the state of Iowa. We were interested in how mothers made decisions about their pre-school children's dental care. I worked with the focus group facilitators to prepare them for the meetings, and oversaw all details of the focus groups from location to travel to food and incentives. Once they were completed, I transcribed, translated (if necessary), and coded all of the focus groups.
