I wrote and edited standard operating procedures and forms across several departments to bring them into compliance and alignment with current industry standard and compendial guidance documents. I maintained ownership of the Change Control process and associated documentation for each document revised and ensured associated CAPAs were implemented as necessary.

Similar to my role as AstraZeneca, I helped develop four Microbiology labs from empty lab space into fully-functioning GMP laboratory space, operating at Biosafety Level 2. During the start-up process, I was a member of a small team the worked cross-functionally with the warehouse team to coordinate the receipt of small equipment for all of the QC labs. I was a key member of the Environmental Monitoring Performance Qualification team, working long hours to take and process samples and results in order to show environmental control of the manufacturing plant. I then transitioned into a review role for the continuous environmental monitoring program. Additionally, I was the Subject Matter Expert for the in-house microbial isolate program, completely re-writing the standard operating procedure (used across the network) and designing the program at the Longmont site. I received training in the writing of Laboratory Investigations and CAPAs and often presented QC issues at the site-wide daily Deviation/CAPA/Investigation meeting.

I helped build the QC microbiology labs from the ground up, developing our programs and authoring our SOPs. Once the labs were up and running, I was primarily responsible for qualification of media, microbial identification, testing of total organic carbon and conductivity of water, and environmental monitoring of the manufacturing plant. I have experience working within a Lean lab, using established problem solving methodologies and root cause analyses to improve the lab and our processes on a regular basis.
