Pediatric Registered Nurse
CurrentProvide nursing care and education in pediatric primary care setting during ten hour clinic days. Serve as an RN to patients newborn to age 21 at routine well and acute care visits, triage call appointments and immunization visits. Patient population primarily Medicaid; many of whom are medically fragile and complex patients. Collaborate with pediatricians to provide treatment and serve as primary communicator between patient and PCP for all calls with results, questions, and plan of care.Perform urinary catheterizations, initiate oxygen, provide asthma education/spacer training and administered Albuterol/Nebulizer treatments, minor wound care, suctioning, newborn education, and administer medications, including antibiotic injections and oral steroids.Triage patients and notify providers of ED disposition, schedule patients and provide supportive home cares and ED precautions.Administer flu, COVID-19 and catch-up immunizations during nurse visits; utilize VFC program.Report critical lab results and help provider carry out treatment plan needed, such as home phototherapy treatment arrangement for babies with jaundice.Respond to Code Blues; call for 911/ AMR transportation as needed.Manage clinic emergency bag, skincare and acne treatment samples, formula samples and asthma supplies with vendors.Make multiple reports to DHS and collaborate with DHS/Peak Vista Providers and DHS Case Managers.Communicate with and provide interdisciplinary care for patients at specialty clinics at Children's Hospital Colorado and Rocky Mountain Children's Hospitals, private and corporate specialists, school nurses, home health agencies and durable medical equipment companies.Help problem solve with clinic leadership to address daily work flows in clinic and resolve short and long term issues.Trained 30 new nurses during their employee orientation throughout clinics at Peak Vista.Nursing student preceptor and preceptor for high school students interested in the medical field
