I continue to be enamoured the little, everyday joys children find within our difficult world today. Working as a camp counselor continuously reminded me to never take life too seriously. At Hebrew SeniorLife, the residents and patients continuously remind me of this as well. Turns out, people of all ages think being goofy should be a priority! What feels like forever ago, I attended Chicago's largest and most diverse high school where I met people who spoke different languages, lived in different neighborhoods, and celebrated different holidays for the first time. This opened my eyes to the incredible world of diversity, and I haven't turned back since. I continue to have these conversations today by facilitating and participating in multigenerational, interfaith, and multicultural dialogues. In undergrad, I found my second home in the Jewish community. I have seen firsthand the impact a strong, cohesive community can have on a person's life and I admire Judaism for the incredible communities it has helped me build. I strive to bring that same sense of community and safe space into my everyday work as a community builder.Working at Hebrew SeniorLife, I am in a position that allows me to continue to be inspired by and build strong communities for a diverse group of children, adults, and seniors. I feel so grateful.
